Belt Grinder Flat Platen for 2×72″ knife making grinder, hot rolled steel 2.5″
Start your homebuilt grinder project off with a rock solid flat platten! This flat platten is in hot rolled steel. It is 2.5″ wide, just shy of 8″ long & just under a quarter inch thick. The mounting holes are tapped 1/4-20 & 6″ apart. This platten fits most DIY style grinders, but check your layout before ordering. They fit our D-style backing plates & mounting brackets, please visit our Ebay store to see our other listings. We also have these available in 2.5″ width A2 tool steel as well as 2″ width hot rolled steel. Having a flat platten which can be removed from the D-style backing plate mounting bracket means you can replace flat plattens when they become worn. You can also install a cooling plate between the flat platten & the mounting bracket for heavy duty grinding applications where heat becomes an issue. You can also insert pieces of shim stock (or aluminum baking tray material) to true the flat platten in relation to the D-style backing plate.
